Challenge

Create a type specimen booklet that explores the full personality and versatility of a single typeface. I chose Helvetica to challenge the idea that a typeface can “speak for itself.” Known for its neutrality and adaptability, Helvetica is often treated as invisible. My goal was to give it a fresh identity while showcasing its full range, from body text to large-scale display, within a consistent, structured system.

Approach

I drew inspiration from classic Swiss design principles, clarity, order, and function, while allowing Helvetica to truly “speak for itself.” The layouts follow a strict grid system, which I explored to create generous white space that emphasizes balance and legibility, while still producing engaging, intentional compositions across each spread.
